All of our P3-P6 pupils have been doing Compo mock

All of our P3-P6 pupils have been doing Compo mock tests since the start of Term 2. We closely monitor our students’ progress to ensure they are ready for their actual school assessment. ✍🏼

Our HAO teachers strictly observe the test duration and we grade papers in accordance with the school standards. 🕤🅰️

We constantly provide our pupils with extra preparation so they are more ready to take the test on their own. In line with what we have advised to parents, it is important to identify areas for improvement earlier in place.

Every effort has been taken to make sure that our students enjoy writing Chinese compo in a stress-free educational setting. We are pleased with the confidence expressed by our students when they took the Chinese compo test independently. 🤩

From the start of P1, we have trained our students

From the start of P1, we have trained our students to collect 好词佳句 for Compo writing ✍🏼 programme when they come to P3.

We have always believed that laying a solid foundation in the early years is critical, so our HAO team reviews our Primary curriculum on an on-going basis to ensure that it is closely aligned with MOE and school assessment rubrics to select the most practical idioms and phrases for our students to gain confidence in during their Primary school years.

Understand many students struggle with composition writing when they enter P3, subsequently suffer in upper level without proper guidance and solid foundation in reading and writing.

The goal of collecting 好词佳句 from P1 is to ensure that our HAO students understand how to use good words effectively in sentence structure. ✔️ We love that our pupils enjoy the 好词佳句 flashcards. We are confident that our young P1P2 pupils will use many 好词佳句 when they begin to writing Compo next time.

We know how much our HAO students enjoy our weekly Chinese poetry times and have received numerous compliments from parents who express that their children can recite the poems they learned at HAO.

Today, our Primary and Secondary teacher team hosted a termly meeting and recorded a song called 《上春山》. The song contains many beautiful Chinese poems.

Chinese poetry has a rich history and high artistic value. It provides an insightful look into Chinese culture throughout the ages and is a great way to practice memorisation and speech in Chinese.

What makes us proud of our HAO Preschool curriculu

What makes us proud of our HAO Preschool curriculum is the Presentation time, which allows every student to participate starting from N1. 🎤

We are proud to be Singapore’s only Chinese language centre that offers mind-maps and presentations in all Preschool classes. 🎬👩‍🏫

The goal of this activity is not only to help our little ones gain confidence in their speech while overcoming stage fright at a young age, but also to ensure that our students understand the Chinese language flow and are fluent in delivering a proper story, which will help them in their Chinese oral and Chinese compo when they enter Primary school.

As you can see, our Nursery students can only present words or short sentences with the guidance of our HAO teachers, but as they progress to Kindergarten level, our students become capable and confident storytellers! 🤩🥳

Good job, HAO students! We are glad we can help everyone in the Preschool course grow their Chinese speech confidence!

Many parents complimented us on being more than just a tuition centre, we are a team of devoted and passionate individuals.

At HAO, we value our teachers’ competence in teaching while also recognising their strengths.

黄老师: our senior Preschool educator and Centre trainer, is a talented traditional Chinese paper-cuts artist whose incredible creations have been featured in the newspaper on multiple occasions. Our centrepiece decorations are primarily under her supervision! 😍

邱老师: our West branch’s Principal, is an experienced teacher who guides PSLE and O-level students in her area of expertise. She is trustworthy, sincere and fully committed to her work. We are deeply grateful for her unwavering dedication and leadership. Her devotion to the Centre is truly remarkable! 🫶

Everyone remembers that one teacher who made an incredible impact on their life, whether they helped you figure out a passion, get through a tough year, or simply provided a shoulder to cry on.

In the previous video, we addressed Coen’s educational background and how he feels about the challenges that our local students face when learning Chinese.

In this video, Coen speaks on:

1. Observations on 好学堂’s strengths that could benefit our students.

2. Whether he believes taking Higher Chinese can benefit students.

Overall, Coen observed that our small class size as well as friendly environment provide students with more opportunities to discuss with teachers and peers in a stress-free setting. 🙌

Taking Higher Chinese means learning Chinese language in depth as we exposed to more extensive vocabulary in the work of literature. This can be beneficial in improving language proficiency. 👍
